Let's Get It! Goals for March 2016

I started this series to hold myself accountable on monthly goals and as a chance to reflect on the previous month. I want to focus on a more intentional life.

Check out my goal posts from the last several months here.

Future monthly intentions posts will be on my new business website, This Biz Life

I had a pretty busy month! This is just the beginning of what the rest of the year will look like. I'm excited though because with solid strategy, consistency and lots of unplugging this will be a great 2016!

WHAT HAPPENED WITH MY GOALS FROM LAST MONTH...

  • Lights out by 11 PM during the week - DIDN'T HAPPEN but I did get up early (like 4:30 AM early) most days during the last 2 weeks of month -that's a great thing!
  • Read a new book - STARTED reading Vegan Before 6 but didn't finish it. I notice that I read less when I make it a monthly goal. Maybe it takes the fun out if it or something lol.
  • Get my butt on Pinterest NOPE - I don't what my resistance is with Pinterest, but I really need to get over it.
  • Meal plan every.single.week. - DONE It feels good to be back on a schedule! We eat a lot healthier (and save money) when I meal plan.
  • Do something FUN with the boys - DONE We had an awesome time playing laser tag as a family.

LESSONS LEARNED THIS MONTH

  • It's okay to shift my focus a bit (or a lot). I feel like my life and business strategies change from month to month. Instead of getting in my head about it, I will focus on being intentional and not beating myself up about "changing my mind". Change is good.  At least I'm taking action...instead of just overanalyzing like I typically do.
  • Preparation is the way to success - I've been plagued by procrastination for so long. I was able to get all of my consistency goals done (below) and more in February by staying ahead. Progress, baby!

5 GOALS FOR THE NEW MONTH

  • Set up future plans for Zero to Vegan
  • Be intentional about drinking more water (more water, less red wine lol) - aim for 70 oz of water a day
  • Start the Pinterest project
  • Start and finish What We Ate Today ebook
  • Make a couple of doctor appointments

HOW I DID ON CONSISTENCY GOALS -

CONSISTENCY GOALS FOR MARCH (my consistency goals consist of blogging, YouTube, podcast, free workshops & product/service creation)

  • 2 YouTube videos
  • 2 blog posts
  • 2 podcast episodes
  • Launch What We Ate Today
  • Ditch Dairy masterclass

That's it for the month! How did you do and what awesome plans do you have for March? Leave me a comment

Let's Get It! Goals for February 2016

Future monthly intentions posts will be on my new business website, This Biz Life

I started this series to hold myself accountable on monthly goals and as a chance to reflect on the previous month. I want to focus on a more intentional life.

Check out my goal posts from the last several months here.

My three words for 2016 are:

  • Confidence
  • Discipline
  • Health

January was the first month in a long time that I didn't feel like the time just flew by. I wasn't as productive as I wanted to be (I never feel productive enough), but it was nice not to look at the calendar and feel like the month raced by.

WHAT HAPPENED WITH MY GOALS FROM LAST MONTH...

  • Cook dinner for my parents [NOPE] Snow sidetracked those plans *blah*
  • Read a new book [DONE] I finished Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
  • Launch Zero to Vegan 14-Day Boot Camp [DONE] Woo hoo! I think the boot camp went well...especially since I didn't have much time to promote it (traveled for work). I will bring it back at the end of February. You can register for your spot here
  • Visit Niagara Falls while in NY for a speaking gig [DONE] :-)
  • Walk/Yoga/Light Weights for at least 15 mins a day [NOPE] There was no excuse for me to at least do yoga from the comfort of my home. *sigh*

LESSONS LEARNED THIS MONTH

  • Outsourcing is crucial if I want to grow my business and stay consistent - I had some design and editing help done and it felt so good to only focus on the content and not the other little stuff. Outsourcing will definitely be a priority going forward.  It just doesn't make sense to try to do everything myself anymore when I want to grow.
  • Just start, then come back later to mend any loose ends - this applies to every aspect of my business

5 GOALS FOR THE NEW MONTH

  • Lights out by 11 PM during the week - I want to get on a solid 5 AM schedule Monday-Friday. I find myself watching shows/movies and scrolling social media at night, so the first step is turning off all electronics by 11 to get up on time. Wish me luck!
  • Read a new book -Will probably read The Big Leap
  • Get my butt on Pinterest - I feel like the last person in my industry who isn't using Pinterest very much to expand my reach. I paid for a Pinterest course last year, so I will spend the month learning the info and applying it to my business.
  • Meal plan every.single.week. - I fell off big time with our family's weekly meal planning.  We've been spending way too much money eating out and just grabbing enough food for the day from the grocery store. It happens but it's time to get back in the kitchen!
  • Do something FUN with the boys - It's so easy to stay in the house all the time (especially since the weather is trash), so I have to get the boys out for a fun activity.

HOW I DID ON CONSISTENCY GOALS -

CONSISTENCY GOALS FOR FEBRUARY (my consistency goals consist of blogging, YouTube & product/service creation)

  • 2 blog posts
  • 2 YouTube videos
  • 2 free virtual workshops (make sure you're on the mailing list, so you can be notified -Join the list here
  • Launch Zero to Vegan again at the end of the month

That's it for this month!

What are you looking forward to in the new month? Let me know in the comments.

January 2016 Goals + Dec 2015 Recap

Future monthly intentions posts will be on my new business website, This Biz Life

I started this series to hold myself accountable on monthly goals and as a chance to reflect on the previous month. I want to focus on a more intentional life.

Check out my goal posts from the last several months here.

This month went waaay too fast! A lot of goodness happened in my personal life, but business work was definitely put on the back burner. I guess that is to be expected with all the holidays.  I really don't know why I said I would so much biz work in December in my November post. lol

On the business side, I'm looking forward to the new year and plan to bring you even more easy recipes, virtual workshops, ebooks, more videos and super easy tips on how to embrace vegan life with your family.

In my personal life, I am looking forward to being more present, eating better, paying off debt, saving money, and being more happy and confident.

What I Will Leave Behind in 2015

I spent about an hour reflecting on this last year and I feel pretty happy about all of the growth that I've had. Sometimes it's hard for me to remember everything that happened over the course of a year but man it was overall a great year for me (especially in my personal life).

While listening to Myleik Teele talk about what we should leave behind in 2015 on her podcast, I decided to come up with my own quick list.

I will leave behind:

  • Comparing myself to others
  • Silly tears (I'm way too sensitive)
  • Body shaming myself
  • Doing things that don't excite me
  • Making excuses
  • Overthinking
  • Using money as the only measure of my success (my impact is a much better metric)

What happened on my goals from last month...

Walk daily - [NOT QUITE] I started off okay but as time went on I completely fell off. I can't even blame the weather because December was unseasonably warm here in DC.

Get a part-time job - [DONE] I started a part-time job in early December and let me know tell I wasn't ready! *Kevin Hart voice* OMG! Even though I don't work a lot, it's hard being committed to someone else's schedule. This is definitely an adjustment since I haven't worked for someone else in a few years.

Take family portraits - [DONE]  :-)

Read 2 books - [NOPE] I'm still working on Shonda Rhimes' Year of Yesbut I did read It's Not How Good You Are, It's How Good You Want to Be (super short book).

Attend TWO fun social events - [DONE] I went to my first Wizards game and saw Kid Fury & Crissle at The Read Live

Overall, I didn't get everything done, but I do feel refreshed going into the new year.

5 Goals for the new month

  • Cook dinner for my parents
  • Finish reading a new book (or 2 lol)
  • Launch Zero to Vegan 14-Day Boot Camp (you can register here)
  • Visit Niagara Falls while in NY for a speaking gig (If you're in the Buffalo area come see me! Get your tix here)
  • Walk/Yoga/Light Weights for at least 15 mins a day

How I did on consistency goals -

Consistency goals for January

  • 2 blog posts
  • 2 YouTube videos
  • Write outline for new product, What We Ate Today

That's it for this month!

What are you looking forward to this year? Let me know in the comments.

Let's Get It! - Goals for Dec 2015

I started this series to hold myself accountable on monthly goals and as a chance to reflect on the previous month. I used to be one of those people who only thought about my life on my birthday or on New Year's day. I want to focus on a more intentional life.

Check out my goal posts from the last several months here.

Goodness! This month went by sooo fast and I don't feel like I got much done. *tears* It was just one of those months.

Anyway, here were the intentions/goals for last month....

  • Take family portraits
  • Test out a 5 AM - 10 AM work schedule
  • Cook dinner for my parents
  • Start A Consistent Podcast Schedule (4 episodes a month)
  • Release a free email course on how to go vegan with a family

Take fam portraits - [NOPE] I let this project overwhelm me. I spent more time thinking about what we should wear than setting a date and making it happen. To be honest, I forgot this was my goal for the month until around the 20th. *sigh* We will definitely get this done in December!

5 AM - 10 AM - [SOMEWHAT] I'm still struggling with this one because when 10 AM comes around, I have a hard time shutting everything down. I'm motivated to maintain the 5 AM wake up time though because my "office" is no longer in my bedroom. I really have to get as much done before everyone wakes up.

Cook dinner for my parents [YES] Thanksgiving with my parents was nice.

Consistent podcast schedule [ALMOST] I released 3 podcast episodes in November! Woo hoo! I haven't released that many since December 2014. Sad but true.

Release a free email course - [YES] So excited to finally have this one out! If you need help with meal planning, grocery shopping, dealing with picky eaters and going vegan, this free email course is perfect for you! Get the free course here

5 Intentions for the New Month

  • Walk daily - Man, oh man, this colder weather is messing with my flow. I've been eating too much and not walking nearly as much as I should. I live across the street from the gym, so I can't even make an excuse about not at least getting on the treadmill.
  • Get a part-time job - This has been on my calendar for months!
  • Take family portraits - Gotta get this done since the pics are Christmas gifts for our parents
  • Read 2 books - I've been slacking on this one for a few months now. I used to read every.single. day. but my reading has been replaced with scrolling Baller Alert on Instagram, Snapchat and catching up on shows on Hulu. The struggle.
  • Attend TWO fun social events - Even though these 2 events are on my calendar, I have to type it here, so that I will actually attend. lol

How I did on consistency goals -

  • 4 podcast episodes (posted 3 in November and had a record month for episode. downloads!) Check out my vegan podcast here
  • 2 YouTube videos (posted 1 in November - I don't think that one video counts because I was just telling folks that I had a free Thanksgiving workshop coming up. Chile! lol)
  • Post at least once a day on Facebook  (umm, I didn't think this one)
  • Send out a weekly newsletter to the folks on my list [DONE]
  • 1 blog post that isn't related to my YouTube videos, the podcast or this monthly recap [I published a whopping 4 posts this month]
  • 1 free virtual workshop [DONE- the Thanksgiving workshop went really well!]

Overall, I did a decent job with consistency. I will work hard to get YouTube back on track and spend more time writing more quality blog posts.

Consistency goals for December:

  • 3 YouTube videos
  • 4 podcast episodes
  • 2 blog posts
  • 1 virtual workshop

That's it for the month!

What are you goals for December? Let me know in the comments.
