Emani Corcran of BLKANDVEGAN is on the podcast for a lively conversation all about the vegan lifestyle.

Emani Marie Corcran is a vegan recipe and lifestyle creator who caters to all people curious about expanding into the vegan lifestyle. She focuses on health and nutrition as a focal point in her creations, while creating delicious meals that will entice even the most notorious meat eater.

Not only this, she believes in inspiring her audience through action and sharing all health and wellness tips along the way. Her goal is to bring vegan food into the cultural conversation as a means to give veganism a fresh, modern, and flavorful turn from its previous past. She has a passion for curating a warm and welcoming environment that makes her page inclusive to everyone while explaining veganism from her African American perspective.

As I said, in this conversation we really cover so many great topics about living vegan, transitioning to a plant based diet, and exploring the motivations behind adopting a vegan lifestyle. If you’re a regular podcast listener who is curious about going vegan or if you are already a vegan and needing some new inspiration, Emani is definitely going to inspire you either way.

Emani went vegan overnight (a more rare strategy as listeners of this podcast will know!) after her boyfriend convinced her to watch What The Health on Netflix. She shares the story of how she put off the documentary for months because she knew it would make her change her lifestyle and she was resisting it. But after finally giving in to watch, she was convinced and immediately gave away the animal products in her kitchen to her roommates and headed to Trader Joes to stock up on vegan items. She tells me in this conversation about the original struggle of figuring out what vegans actually eat, how she learned to make a lentil taco which she relied on for months, and what she did to start veganizing her favorite foods. If you want inspiration for a vegan hot pocket, we’ve got it for you!

We talk about some of Emani’s favorite vegan meals and our differing snack preferences (let us know who you relate to more).

Of course, we also discuss work life, what the pandemic changed for Emani, and the surprising self care philosophy she’s adopted as a way to help her balance the stress of a full time career and her content creation.

This conversation has something for everybody and Emani’s energy is contagious.
