I’m so excited for today’s episode of the podcast because we’re back with my friend Plant-Based Tamika!

It’s been two years since she last caught up with us on the podcast and this conversation is long-overdue and full of amazing energy.

If you aren’t already familiar with Tamika, you have so much to gain from this episode and her story.

Before switching to a plant-based diet, Tamika suffered from severe asthma, battled sinus infections every winter and struggled to maintain a healthy weight.

After much frustration, time and energy spent with over the counter medications, doctor visits and more, Tamika decided to try a plant-based diet.

Since switching, Tamika has cured herself of asthma, shed over 40 lbs without feeling deprived and renewed her quality of life. She created her blog and social media platforms, Plant-based Tamika, to share her journey. Her fun, engaging content shows that a plant-based lifestyle is not a life of deprivation, but a life of abundance and joy.

Plant-Based Tamika has worked with countless vegan-friendly brands and restaurants to inspire others through her fun, authentic approach to this lifestyle. Tamika’s mission is to spread joy and inspire healing from the inside out.

We start off the conversation catching up on the wild ride of the past few years, finding out what Tamika has been up to, and reflecting on all the places she has been over the last year or so. Tamika shares her excitement over her brand new family home and we have a vulnerable and important conversation about her upbringing which included experiencing homelessness off and on from a very young age. She has so many lessons learned to share with you and hopefully inspires you to find your own ‘attitude of gratitude’.

Along with healing from a tumultuous past and relationship with her mother, Tamika has recently been called to experience solo travel for the first time which has opened her up to so many new experiences and perspectives. We talk about how this new adventure came to be and why it’s so important to do what you feel called to, even if it’s out of your comfort zone.

Beyond the personal stories, Tamika also brings so much to this conversation about business, being an influencer, creating her brand, and learning how to navigate brand partnerships.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Growing up experiencing homelessness, healing from generational trauma, and finding forgiveness

  • Using alcohol as a distraction from trauma, why Tamika decided to stop drinking, and her experience with that transition

  • Solo travel and the importance of doing what calls to you

  • Behind the scenes of Tamika’s amazing food reactions and video footage + tips for high quality content on Instagram

  • Some misconceptions of being an influencer + tips and tricks for navigating brand partnerships

  • Tamika’s Standout Style boutique and how she balances it with her content creation

  • Staying excited for the future without being attached to a plan
