$100 Whole Foods Grocery Haul | Vegan Family Meals

How is your week going?

I feel so accomplished already because I got a new YouTube video up for you and the outline is done for a free virtual workshop going down next week (you can sign up for the workshop here).

One of the things that has skyrocketed my productivity this week is taking overwhelming/big projects and breaking them down (on paper) into digestible steps.

I know this may sound easy, but so many of us spend a lot of time in our heads and don't take the action we need to go to the next level.

This same method can be applied to starting a vegan journey.

Some people can go vegan overnight, but the majority of us need manageable steps to make it happen.

What will your next step be to get closer to a compassionate and more healthy vegan life? It can be as simple as switching your dairy milk to almond milk or using coconut oil (or Earth Balance buttery spread) in place of dairy butter.

Break the big goal down into baby steps and make it happen!

In the latest YouTube video (watch below), I show you what I was able to get for $93 at Whole Foods and how I plan to use these ingredients. This food only lasted a couple of days, but I wanted to share because it's been too long since I've posted a grocery haul video for you.

These days, I don't go the grocery store as much as I used to. I'm so thankful for services like Instacart and Amazon Fresh! They deliver groceries right to your home.

This is what dreams are made of! lol

PLUS, I can use that shopping time with my family and  to grow my biz.

You know, the important stuff. :-)

Don't ever feel like you have to shop at stores like Whole Foods to be vegan. You can literally get vegan options at any grocery store.

Rice, beans, potatoes, greens, bananas, etc. are all vegan and accessible.

I also put together a shopping list with a list of vegan options for categories, such as: protein, fruit, vegetables, snacks, condiments and grains to make grocery shopping easier.

Recipes mentioned in the video:

  • Lasagna (video & blog post coming soon)
  • Chickpea salad sandwich
  • Grilled cheese (used Rudi bread and Field Roast chao cheese slices)

Brands mentioned:

  • Instacart
  • Just Mayo
  • Amazon Fresh

There's so much variety in a vegan lifestyle, so get started and have fun!

Vegan Family Grocery Haul + Free Meal Plan | April 2016 (VIDEO)

Is this your situation?

You're ready to start a vegan journey, but you don't know what to put on your grocery list or what to eat. I remember this life!

Here's the thing - The real question is, do you have a meal plan? Having a plan before you go to the store will make it super easy to determine what you should buy.

If vegan meal planning is new to you, spend some time looking for recipes on YouTube, Pinterest, cookbooks (I usually get them from the library) and food blogs like Minimalist Baker.

Also, it's really helpful to make a vegan version of meals you're already eating to save time.

Since I know vegan meal planning and grocery shopping can be overwhelming, I put together a grocery haul video for you.

In this video, I go over how l use each ingredient for my own family's meal plan, so you can see meal planning and grocery shopping in action.

Vegan Options at Target + Plus Mini Grocery Haul

Most people don't think of Target when it comes to grocery shopping, but there are many vegan options there (and it doesn't have to be a Super Target).

I actually went to Target for cleaning supplies and candles, so it's always good to throw in a little grocery shopping, too. I needed to do my real grocery shopping at my normal store but wasn't in the mood. I know you can relate.

In this video, I put together a Target tour and mini grocery haul with some of the items I picked up.

Click below to watch....

My store has a small produce department with plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, tofu, etc.

I also show you convenient pre-packed vegan options for those times when you just don't feel like cooking.

Of course, you should eat as many whole ingredients as possible. I just LOVE showing you all the other options out there! I never want lack of access or information be the reason you don't start a vegan life. I hope the info in the video is helpful!

Vegan Family Grocery Haul | Wegmans

One of the reasons I've been able to stay on this vegan journey for 5 years is by always going to the grocery store with a detailed meal plan.

Tip for you:

Use a spiral notebook and jot down what you're eating for the week and what ingredients you need to pick up.

Not only does this keep your budget in check, but it will also get you in and out of the store in a reasonable time (even on crazy weekends).

I remember those days of being confused about what I should or shouldn't buy and wondering if my family would even embrace this new life with me.

I will say that once you're consistent, patient with yourself and family (believe me I know the struggle) and open to learning a new way of doing things, you will find that it isn't too difficult to stay on track.

Wegmans is my fave grocery store ever!

On this recent trip, we spent $151. This is enough groceries for about a week and a half for our family of 5.
