Jenna is a content creator and recipe developer that makes Caribbean-style vegan food and eye-catching video recipes. She shares creative vegan meal ideas that reflect her Caribbean/Jamaican background.

If you follow Jenna on Instagram, you know that she creates high-energy, high-quality recipe videos with food that looks so good it will inspire you to get in the kitchen right away. During this conversation, she shares some behind the scenes of how she creates her content, what her process looks like, and how she manages life as a content creator. We also reflect on how working on vacation can be a challenge and what Jenna has done to make it work for her.

Jenna came from a LARGE family and began cooking at around age 7 everyday for her 18 other family members. Cooking everyday for that many people made the learning curve steep, and she had to quickly learn to take everybody’s feedback and make everyone happy. She shares more about that experience and how her background and upbringing still informs her recipe development and what flavors she loves to make vegan.

Going vegan was not something Jenna ever planned to do, but she found herself naturally wanting to eat less meat–maybe once a month or so. Over time, she started cooking more and more vegan meals because she found that was just what she preferred. In this podcast episode, you’ll hear how she was surprised herself to find that one day while eating seafood she decided she just didn’t want to eat it anymore, and how she began to eat exclusively plant based in 2020.

Some of her go to ingredients she loves in her high protein vegan diet? Chickpeas, tofu, and her latest obsession: jackfruit.

Coming from a previously meat-heavy diet and gradually transitioning to veganism, Jenna has some great tips for new vegans or people struggling to go vegan. If that’s you, you’ll love her realistic approach and practical strategies that she shares with me toward the end of the conversation. We also have a great conversation about plantbased vs vegan, and how Jenna has implemented a more vegan approach to aspects of her life outside of just food.
