Vegan Family Grocery Haul | Wegmans

One of the reasons I've been able to stay on this vegan journey for 5 years is by always going to the grocery store with a detailed meal plan.

Tip for you:

Use a spiral notebook and jot down what you're eating for the week and what ingredients you need to pick up.

Not only does this keep your budget in check, but it will also get you in and out of the store in a reasonable time (even on crazy weekends).

I remember those days of being confused about what I should or shouldn't buy and wondering if my family would even embrace this new life with me.

I will say that once you're consistent, patient with yourself and family (believe me I know the struggle) and open to learning a new way of doing things, you will find that it isn't too difficult to stay on track.

Wegmans is my fave grocery store ever!

On this recent trip, we spent $151. This is enough groceries for about a week and a half for our family of 5.

Whole Foods Grocery Haul | March 2015 (Video)

Whole Foods is where I go to check out all of the new vegan products. I try not to do my "real" weekly shopping there because I tend to just throw stuff we don't need into the cart (they're too expensive for that nonsense lol).

#thestruggle

I get a little too excited when I see that "V" on a product. lol

On this particular trip, we spent $187.94 at Whole Foods.

Our monthly grocery budget is between $650-$700 (sometimes a little more or less depending on what we already have).

Trader Joe's Grocery Haul | Vegan Family Meal Planning

I spent $131.05 on this grocery haul from Trader Joe's...

Wegmans is still my all-time fave grocery store, but since Trader Joe's is right down the street, so I stopped in there to do our shopping.

I picked up ingredients to make vegan macaroni & cheese, green juice, buffalo cauliflower, pizza (using pre-made dough, vegan cheese, onion & green pepper) and plenty of snacks for the boys.

Products mentioned:

Trader Joe’s vegan cheese (not worth buying)
Vegetable masala burger
Cookie Butter (yeah, it's vegan)
Trader Joe’s brand hummus salad dressing

Small Grocery Haul & Recipes (VIDEO)

I hope you're having a great week!

We moved last month and it opened my world up to a lot more natural grocery stores (expect more reviews on vegan products on Instagram).

I been playing around in Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and a local store called Mom's Organic Market

Mom's Organic Market is where my latest haul is from.

I do like this store a lot and plan to shop there more because they carry a lot of local produce (which is more important than organic to me).

Quick info about the haul:

  • I spent $130 on this grocery trip
  • I can usually get a lot more food for that price at Wegmans (my usual store). Mom's is all organic, so I didn't have a choice if I only wanted certain items to be organic.
  • Also, buying a lot of meat alternatives drove up the price too (I don't usually get so many on the same grocery trip).
  • This food lasted about a week because I already had many ingredients at home.
  • We spend about $650-$700 a month on groceries for a family of 5
  • We ate more meals than I listed below...these are the ones that I remembered to write down and take pics of

What I cooked with the ingredients:

meatloaf.png

*** Field Roast meatloaf (very good!), mashed potatoes (I didn't measure but I used almond milk, Earth Balance vegan margarine, salt, black pepper & oregano to make these) & steamed broccoli

*** Stew from The Divine Hostess So simple, filling & delicious!

***  Roasted potatoes recipe

*** We had smoothies (I skipped the peaches), pears, hummus, carrots & celery for snacks

*** Broccoli & vegan sausage recipe

*** Simple salad with carrots, onion & tomato

*** Spaghetti with Beyond Meat crumbles

*** Butternut squash-barlett pear soup from Bryant Terry's Vegan Soul Kitchen-Delicious!

*** Chickpea salad recipe

Grocery Haul & What's Always On My Grocery List (VIDEO)

It's time for another grocery haul! This time I went to the store with my camera and Brandon.

I forgot to hit record (more than once), so I missed a lot of great footage of Bran loading up the cart with produce. Major FAIL.

I did remember to take pictures of what we picked up and put together a short vlog with the footage I did get.

We spent $113.43 on this grocery trip.

I plan to make bean enchiladas, vegetable stir-fry, kale chips, green juice, chickpea salad sandwiches, vegetable quesadillas & lentils and rice. The boys will snack on pineapple, strawberries, carrots & hummus and blueberry & banana smoothies.
